Esther is the pitch composer, a former grant and speech writer from Harlem. A pitch written by hand takes an hour or more when it is done well, and when it is done fast it reads like it could go to any host. Those are the ones that get deleted. Once a target is approved, Essie writes a single pitch in a few minutes, opening on something true about that host, in the speaker's voice drawn from real past examples, closing on an easy next step. The speaker reads it aloud, edits, and sends it under their own name.
